AFTRA Washington/Baltimore Member Contract Ratification Vote

One-Year Extension to the AFTRA Network TV Code

On June 11, 2010, the AFTRA National Board of Directors unanimously approved a one-year extension to the AFTRA National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting, also known as the Network Code, which covers all television programming except network dramatic primetime shows.

Pursuant to Article XI, “Members’ Contracts,” of the AFTRA National Constitution and Bylaws, the National Board has designated that membership meetings will be held in Washington/Baltimore, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and San Francisco for the purpose of ratifying this extension.

The AFTRA Network Television Code covers programming in all television day parts, except for primetime dramatic programs on the networks. It includes dramas in first-run syndication, morning news shows, talk shows, serials (soap operas), variety, reality, contest, sports. Current programs covered by this contract include “Good Morning America,” “The View,” “The Price is Right,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “American Idol,” “Survivor,” “20/20,” “Deal or No Deal,” “Late Show with David Letterman,” “America’s Most Wanted,” “Legend of the Seeker,” among many others.

AFTRA Washington/Baltimore members will have the opportunity to cast their vote at this meeting on the proposed extension of the AFTRA Network Television Code. Terms of the one-year extension will be made available at the meeting.
